Describe situation

ex: We’ve been arguing a lot lately.

 

Express feelings

ex: Arguing upsets me.

 

Assert your desires

ex: I’d like to find a solution.

 

Reinforce: what’s in it for them

ex: If we can do this, I’d be less grouchy.

 

Mindfulness: don’t get sidetracked.

 

Appear confident.

 

Negotiate

ex: say what you can help do for them if

they help fix this issue with you.
