God’s Wings
Thanks to Jeannine Haslett for sharing this
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno’s damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother’s wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast…because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live. ‘He will cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you will find refuge.’ (Psalm 91:4) Being loved this much should make a difference in your life. Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because of it. Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone Special.
Letter From a Friend
I am writing to say how much I care for you
and to say how much I want you to know me better.
When you awoke this morning,
I exploded a brilliant sunrise through your window,
hoping to get your attention,
but you rushed off without even noticing.
Later, I noticed you were walking with some friends,
so I bathed you in warm sunshine
and perfumed the air with nature’s sweet scent,
and still you didn’t notice me.
As you passed by,
I shouted to you in a thunderstorm
and painted a beautiful rainbow in the sky,
and you didn’t even look.
In the evening,
I spilled moonlight onto your face
and sent a cool breeze to rest you.
As you slept,
I watched over you and shared your thoughts,
but you were unaware that I was so near.
I have chosen you and hope you will talk to me soon.
Until then, I remain near.
I am your friend and love you very much.
~Your Friend, Jesus~
Man
No man is worth your tears, but once you find one that is, he won’t make you cry.
The Perfect Girl
A friend asked a gentleman how it is that he never married ?
Replied the gentleman, “Well, I guess I just never met the right woman … I guess I’ve been looking for the perfect girl.”
“Oh, come on now,” said the friend, “Surely you have met at least one girl that you wanted to marry.”
“Yes, there was one girl .. once. I guess she was the one perfect girl .. the only perfect girl I really ever met. She was just the right everything .. I really mean that she was the perfect girl for me.”
“Well, why didn’t you marry her,” asked the friend.
“She was looking for the perfect man,” he said.
Signs
When you find love, don’t let it go. Make the person you love feel that you love them, don’t just tell them.
Words should be used as tools of communication and not as a substitute for action. – Mike Holland
Love and Time
Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,
“Richness, can you take me with you?”
Richness answered, “No, I can’t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.”
As Easy As Brushing Hair
The story starts out where she, Beth, is sitting at an airport terminal, waiting to board a plane. She was sitting there with several other people who were also waiting, whom she did not know.
As she waited, she pulled out her Bible and started reading. All of a sudden she felt as if the people sitting there around her, were looking at her. She looked up, but realized that they were looking just over her head, in the direction right behind her.
She turned around to see what everyone was looking at, and when she did, she saw a stewardess pushing a wheelchair, with the ugliest old man sitting in it, that she had ever seen before. She said he had this long white hair that was all tangled and such a mess. His face was really, really wrinkled, and he didn’t look friendly at all.
She said she didn’t know why, but she felt drawn to the man, and thought at first that God wanted her to witness to him. In her mind she said she was thinking, “Oh, God, please, not now, not here.”
No matter what she did, she couldn’t get the man off of her mind, and all of a sudden she knew what God wanted her to do. She was supposed to brush this old man’s hair.
She went and knelt down in front of the old man, and said “Sir may I have the honor of brushing your hair for you?”
He said “What?”
She thought, “Oh great, he’s hard of hearing.” Again, a little louder, she said, “Sir, may I have the honor of brushing your hair for you?”
He answered, “If you are going to talk to me, you are going to have to speak up, I am practically deaf.”
So this time, she was almost yelling, “Sir may I please have the honor of brushing your hair for you?”
Love vs. Selfishness
The sorrow comes primarily from selfishness, which is the absence of love. – Henry B. Eyring
At the Beginning-Wonderful Journey-Disney
At the Beginning
(Donna)We were strangers,
starting out on a journey
Never dreaming
what we’d have to go through
Now here we are,
and I’m suddenly standing,
at the beginning with you
(Richard)No one told me
I was going to find you,
Unexpected
what you did to my heart,
(BOTH)When I lost hope
you were there to remind me
this is the start
(Chorus) life is a road
and I wanna keep going
love is a river
I wanna keep flowing
life is a road
now and forever
wonderful journey
ill be there when the world stops turning
ill be there when the storm is through
in the end I wanna be standing
at the beginning with you
(Donna) We were strangers
on a crazy adventure
(Richard) Never dreaming
how our dreams would come true
(Both)Now here we stand unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you
(Chorus)
I knew there was somebody somewhere
Like me alone in the dark
Now I know my dream will live on
Ive been waiting so long
nothings gonna tear us apart
(Corus)
Life is a road and I wanna keep going
Love is a river I wanna keep going on
Starting out on a journey
Life is a road I wanna keep going
Love is a river I wanna keep flowing
In the end I wanna be standing
at the beginning with you
Her Story
I’ve been waiting for him to say something while we were walking
but he just continued walking…without even saying anything at all…
I waited impatiently, and he’s still quiet.
Days passed and he bade goodbye, he’s leaving…and he would never come back…
I cried, but not wanting him to see it, I just walked away and left him [bewildered].
